BELSTAFF X BLACKHORSE LANE
Delivering new denim, built with the best
As outfitters to those living a life less ordinary, at Belstaff we understand the importance of a good pair of jeans. While denim may not carry the counter-culture credentials it used to, great quality selvedge still says something about its wearer.
Designed with East London atelier Blackhorse Lane – a natural fit, where our built for life approach to apparel is shared – we’ve collaborated on selvedge and organic raw denim garments with a focus on sustainability, community and unrivalled quality.
We’ve been manufacturing clothing for almost a hundred years, and have seen styles come and go and come back again. Blackhorse Lane Ateliers opened its doors in April 2016, with founder Han Ates applying 25 years of experience in the textile industry in a first for modern London – world-class denim, made locally and eco-consciously, using only the finest materials.
In setting out to make selvedge denim fit for the modern world, excellent quality isn’t the sole port of call. We were equally drawn to Blackhorse Lane’s eco-conscious credentials and sustainable outlook. Using only organic cotton and denim woven in Europe, the atelier minimises the environmental impact of the creation of the raw materials.
Based in a renovated factory building in East London that dates back to the 1920s, we combined tailoring innovation and heritage construction with a focus on style, sustainability and unmatched quality.
Blackhorse Lane’s community approach is also worthy of note – only 15 minutes from the factory they tend their own gardens, a tranquil spot in the city’s oldest allotment. Here, Blackhorse have begun work on beds with plans to grow a plantation of Japanese indigo, literally putting down roots that ensure the future of denim in London.
